RSS Index Files
Index files for the Tanzarine web site are now available in RSS format. This article describes briefly how they are created, and where they are stored on the server.
XBuild Index Management
The XBuild tool, the Java application written by Tanzarine Technology and used to build this web site, uses an Index Manager component to track articles as they are built and added to the final web site. At the end of the build process, this index data is used to create the section index files which are displayed for each part of the web site, listing the articles available in that section. However, the index is also used to create index files in RSS format.
The RSS Format
RSS is an XML document format which is used to describe and point to articles on a web site. It is used by most of the major headline grabber applications and portals in use on the Internet today. Once you have your software up and running, pointing it to the URL of an RSS document will cause the headlines contained within that document to be imported into your application.
By making information about articles on the Tanzarine web site available in RSS format, the headlines can be imported into your application in the same way.
Available RSS Documents
There are two such files currently available, clicking on the links below will display them in your browser, if it is capable of doing so. Otherwise, you can copy the URLs for inclusion in your headline grabber or portal application.
